About Fr. Juan Caboboy

Reverend Fr. Juan Caboboy — our dear spiritual advisor — was the 3rd child of nine children, who as a young altar boy in Borongan, Samar, already started to serve Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

  • Joined the seminary in high school and continued to pursue the priesthood until he was invited by Monsignor Irigan to visit the Diocese of Orange in the '80s, and has since then continued to serve as a diocesan priest in the many parishes of Orange County.
  • In 1993 he was installed as the 3rd Parish Priest of St. Nicholas Church in Laguna Hills, CA. During his administration a Eucharist Chapel was constructed, which included remodeling of the church, as it stands currently.
  • In 1993, when the Federation of Filipino Rosary Groups, Inc. Orange County was incorporated and separated from the Los Angeles FFRG, Fr. Juan Caboboy became our spiritual advisor, and has been instrumental in our growth as a matured and dedicated religious organization.
  • He has been our dedicated celebrant of the First Saturday Novena Mass Devotion at St. Nicholas since 1993. For nine months during the year, from October to June, even when he was no longer the Parish Priest of St. Nicholas, he drove to St. Nicholas to celebrate the mass for us.
  • It was with his blessing and encouragement that the Holy Rosary Philippine Chamber Chorale was able to start its devotion of singing during the First Saturday Novena Mass Devotion at St Nicholas Church.
  • Under his guidance and advisory, FFRGOC revitalized and formalized the guidelines of the FFRGOC Seminarian Scholarship Program. Through his recommendations, the FFRGOC Seminarian Scholarship Program Committee was established and became responsible for establishing the criteria for application, selection process, and final award of a scholarship to noteworthy seminarian candidates.
  • Fr. Juan celebrated his 25th Anniversary in the priesthood on April 21, 2001.
  • In 2003 he became the parish priest of St. Columban Church in Garden Grove, one of the largest parishioners in Orange County. Perhaps due to his excellent administrative skills he has been given such a great responsibility of managing a multi-national parish.
  • Fr. Juan's favorite foods include paksiw na isda, pansit and chicken adobo. He is a health fanatic, jogs every day before or after his first mass of the day.
  • His overall personality is that of a very quiet man and very private to that point that sometimes he is misunderstood.
  • All of the members of FFRGOC are very fortunate and thankful to have a Filipino Spiritual Advisor who for the past 25 years, 1993–2018, has demonstrated his love and care for our religious organization and continues to do so.
  • In April of 2026, he celebrated his 50th anniversary in the priesthood. Father Juan brings a half-century of unwavering faith, wisdom, and pastoral experience to his role as Spiritual Director of FFRGOC.
